I have been avoiding this update because if the time required. Three things included if you have the time to read. First, the process for introducing a bill. Second, Stratgedy for the coming session and Third, what YOU can do now as we wait.

I started once to outline the process for introducing a bill that you want to see become law.  Briefly, what happens is a Lawyer (or skilled wordsmith) must write a bill that describes what you want..legal use of cannabis as a medicine..then you present that to the "Bill Drafting Department". Trough working with them, the bill is put into the proper format for filing. This can take several weeks, as we learned last session in 2011.

The NC Legislature works both a Long and Short session. The long sessions occur on odd years. Bills may only be "introduced in the long session". Currently, the short session can only address bills that were successfully introduced and passed in the long session. Our bill (HB 577) was introduced and then sent to the Rules Committee. The job of the Rules committee is to decide WHICH COMMITTEES should be consulted for a bill and in what order to send them. H 577 SHOULD have been sent to either (1) Health Committee (2) Finance Committee (3) Justice  and/or other affected areas.

Ours was taken hostage by a singel individual..Rep Stephen LaRoque..now..Thank God, Defeated by his own constituents. Next time, this WILL not happen!

This will be continued!!

I think that is a good idea Chipr62. I was involved in a group of landscapers and the green industry back when Charlotte had water restrictions. Not allowing people to use any outside watering of any kind. It was killing our industry. We had about 300 hundred people show up at the gov. center in downtown Charlotte to show our resolve to come up with better ways of dealing with the drought. The number of people in the lobby got their attention. And it worked. Within 2 weeks they had changed the restrictions in our favor.

Perry, when is the first day of the "Long session" Would it not benefit us if we were to descend on the House of Representative en masse? All you need to do is pick a day when you want us to show up.
