OK folks, this is down to the wire. An extremely thoughtful and thorough member has put together a brilliant piece of information on one page, with links; everything from the layout of the Halifax Mall (that is the name of the grassy area between the government buildings such as education, LOB and Dobbs buildings. That is the assembly point for us lobbyist. The incredible page is located at www.ncmedicalcannabis.org. Also the first link on our links tab. If you still have questions, please call me at the number on website. If not, I will see you on the mall at 9AM. The event is from 9-3. Please, make every effort to show your support for once. Let them know what it has been like to hide and medicate, feeling like a criminal!

IT IS WRONG; IT MUST CHANGE!!!

The informational session will begin at 11AM; have your legislator in the LA Auditorium. It is on the third floor of the Legislative Building. The LA is very confusing at first (and second). It is divided into 4 quadrants, each looks exactly the same, Office numbers are 1100/1200 etc. We will have volunteers to help you find offices and answer questions.

While we are speaking of this event, it is for civic lobbying of "your legislator" and the education of same. It is NOT A RALLY where everyone shows up in full rebellious fashion with joints blazing!

It is to clear up the ignorance about this miracle plant before someone else gets crucified. If you will pardon a biblical illustration, it was St. Peter who explained to his audience that it was them who crucified Him, "you and your leaders"; although you did it in IGNORANCE.

I have had conversations with people I know to be moral to the extent possible for them as human beings; and I am saddened by the ignorance. If I may illustrate with recent events, a presentation was made at the legislature last week by the National Cancer Society. When a legislator asked for more information about cancer and the benefits of Cannabis, they were provided a written response, with a position paper. As an interested legislator, it was shared with me. Instantly, I recognized the latest information from the IOM (Institute of Medicine, 1999 report) that found Cannabis useful in the treatment of "symptoms". In a short par later in the report, they stated that, in vivo and otherwise in animal studies, it had other possibilities.

What they failed to mention is that scientist and Microbiologists have now discovered that CBD is effective in killing cancer cells while protecting normal cells.....hummmmm

Given this and untold numbers of reported and unreported clinical trials, the National Cancer Institute (Part of the National Institute of Health) conceded that, according to the PDQ for Physicians and other health care professionals, "In the practice of Integrative Oncology, it (Cannabis) may now be recommended for it's possible direct 'anti-tumor capabilities'."

That statement was removed from their website, under other government agencies direction. Thankfully, the forceful opposition of the chief researcher, Dr. Donald Abrams, to reporting the scientific results as they were, not as other government agencies demanded. In December of this past year, with great secrecy, the NCI again reports that:

"Cannabinoids" (you better learn to spell it, cause spell check is not allowed to know that it exist!) primarily CBD, appear to kill the tumor cells, while at the same time, providing protection to the non-transformed (read NORMAL CELLS) cells. Let me see, it kills the cancer cells, causing the tumors to shrink, while protecting the remaining healthy cells. In my book, that qualifies as a miracle medicine! And Channel 14 asked me why I chose this one instead of the killer narcotics? Catch me with no hidden microphones, and I will tell you.

Information for Tuesday PDF Print E-mail
Written by Perry Parks
Saturday, 09 February 2013 19:27

Just spoke with other staff..we will post agenda and pertinent information on the front page tomorrow. That information will remain on front page until after the event. If you have comments after tomorrow, they should be posted on the front page comments.

We have had mostly positive press. Much information about Tuesday..looped on TWC channel 14. Other radio shows have been taped; one for this next Friday on the Nicole Kay show in Raleigh. Look for opportunities to call your local paper and ask why they are not covering this news.

Tomorrow, the agenda for Tuesday will be finalized. Generally, we will gather on the Halifax Mall beginning around 9 AM. Anyone wishing to volunteer should arrive around 8:30 for orientation. Sheets with legislators office numbers and telephone numbers will be available for all volunteers. You will help direct people to their respective representatives for a short visit. If you have not made an appointment yet, call Monday and encourage them to be in the Legislative Auditorium at 11 AM sharp for the medical educational session by Kevin Baiko, MD.

Also on hand will be special guest, Michael Krawitz, Ex Director of Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access (VMCA). It is his work that resulted in the VA Directives (2010-035/2011-004) that will protect the North Carolina veterans once the bill becomes law.

The address of the corner of Halifax Mall is 300 Salisbury Street. Their are steps going up to the mall on two sides. The mall is a large grassy area between 5 government buildings. We will assemble there. The complex is bordered by Salisbury and Wilmington Streets. Public Parking is available in open lots and in the parking deck opposite the mall. If you come in on 440 (beltway), exit on South Saunders street to downtown. Follow it all the way through down town until you go underneath a third floor walk way connecting two buildings. Continue past the next street and you will see the entrance on the right to the parking decks. Follow the signs for visitor parking.

The next right after the overhead walkway has some public parking in front of the Governor's office, but the spots are limited to one hour; tickets are $30. (experience)

The basic agenda if for Rep Kelly Alexander/ Pricey Harrison to offer opening remarks followed by Dr. Baiko, Dr. Porter (NP), Ben Scales, esq.; bill author, and Michael Krawitz. The educational session will be followed by Q&A with lunch served beginning at 12:30.

Remaining time will consist of patient testimonials and individual meetings with legislators.

If you didn't make an appointment, most legislators will allow at least 15 minutes without appointments. You wait in the hall outside the office. Remember, best face froward.

I am short on time so will have to post later. Much news, interviews on radio, WCNC and just got off the phone with WGHP. They want me to come up tomorrow for an on-air piece.

Kelly has postponed until today or tomorrow the introduction of the bill. We have some exciting contacts with Republicans; none has yet had the courage to sign on as sponsors but we remain hopeful.

PLEASE, if you have not done so; CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT TUESDAY. It is very easy..We are trying to put a simple list that will show "who" your legislator is and their phone number on the same page. If you go to the home page of the "NC General Assembly", click on house and senate members. You will see a telephone for their office. When you call, the Legislative Assistant will most likely answer. Tell them your name and address; that will identify you to them as one of "their" constituents. Tell them you would really appreciate their attendance at the Legislative Auditorium for the presentation by Dr. Kevin Baiko at 11 AM. He will answer questions and provide an overview of how cannabis works.

Six rooms have been reserved at the Clarion Hotel in Raleigh for Monday evening. All have been reserved but if anyone wants to come to Raleigh on Monday, we have a rate of about $89 and they have additional rooms available.

This is promising to be a "happening". We have over 1700 who now say they will attend and over 400 who say maybe. Over 13,000 have now been invited. DON"T MISS THIS ONE.

More soon.
